EDSE Recruits Sexologist Goody Howard for 'Sex & Aging' Session

LOS ANGELES — Educational organization Everyone Deserves Sex Ed (EDSE) has invited sexologist Goody Howard to train attendees of its upcoming 25-hour sex educator certification program.

The program is scheduled for Nov. 9-10 and 16-17 in Los Angeles, where Howard will facilitate discussion of the health and social impacts of aging and how they correlate with sexual pleasure, health, identity and more, giving EDSE attendees a stronger understanding of an often misunderstood subject.

For over 14 years, Howard has been teaching sexuality education and healthy relationships for campuses, companies, and communities, intending to reduce stigma and promote sexual and social responsibility. Boasting the mantra, “Be Good or Be Good at It!” Howard aims to normalize sex-positive conversations about subjects frequently misreported, misconstrued, and left out of traditional sex-ed curricula.

“When we think of sexuality and its expression, our most seasoned citizens are often left out of the conversation,” Howard said. “The world is living longer and sex and intimacy are important to every single one of us regardless of age or ability. I love presenting the reframe necessary for sex-ed folks to include populations that are often treated as non-sexual, and I look forward to doing so for EDSE attendees. Let's get it on! They definitely are.”

EDSE founder and lead educator Anne Hodder-Shipp tapped Howard to teach this portion of the certification because of her "enthusiastic and interactive teaching style, and her professional understanding of how sexuality and identity shift," she said. A fixture on college campuses, professional development events and sexuality conferences, Goody’s work offers "insightful education that challenges attendees’ understanding of intersectionality and inspires the development of cultural competency."

“I’ve been a fan of Goody online for years and when I saw her most recent sexual attitude reassessment workshop co-hosted at the Sex Down South conference, it clicked that she’d be an invaluable asset to EDSE,” said Hodder-Shipp. “Goody’s passion and enthusiasm for the subject are palpable and I’m honored that she agreed to join our team. EDSE attendees will receive an education about sex and aging that’s intersectional, insightful and compassionate, and I’m so excited to work with Goody on this level.”

EDSE individual certification is $2,095, with payment plans available. To apply, click here.
