Viral 'SNL' Gay Adult Parody Was Saved by Emma Stone

CYBERSPACE — A gay porn parody that aired last spring on "Saturday Night Live," and subsequently went viral, was reportedly rescued from the cutting room floor by host Emma Stone.

The digital short was penned by Julio Torres and Bowen Yang and directed by Oz Rodriguez; Yang recalled the experience on “The Outcast” podcast hosted by Rose Dommu.

Adult star Ty Mitchell notably joined the Oscar winner in a parody of fauxcest stepfather/stepson gay porn scenarios, with Stone playing a struggling actress who finds fulfillment in her role as “Dierdre”: “The woman who gets cheated on in gay porn,” she intones.

“She came in on us writing and sat down with us and read through it and really made sure she got it,” recalled Yang. “[Her character is] a really serious actress, and very method you would say, and she comes in on this gay porn set where she’s treated like shit but she wants to be super-serious about it.”

“God, it was great and then Emma really championed it,” Yang continued. “At dress rehearsal it gets played, and it did okay. It didn’t kill. And [they] might have had the inclination to cut it. I believe Emma really, really championed it in that meeting. She was like ‘I would be heartbroken if this got cut, I’m so proud of this.’”

Stone also impressed during the filming of the short. “We would say things like ‘Can you cry on cue?’ and she would just be like, ‘Yeah, just give me one second.’ And she paced the room for about 30 seconds and then tears were coming out of her eyes. And she did the scenes where she was supposed to be emotional,” enthused Yang. “Not that I disputed (her) Oscar ever, but it was like she has a fucking Oscar and there’s a reason why!”

In a potentially meta moment, Dommu urged Yang to find a way to actually make the adult movie.
