18 Plus Releases Free Age Verification Tools, Affiliate Program

LOS ANGELES — 18 Plus has released its free U.K. age verification tools and supporting affiliate program.

Set to come into effect July 15, the U.K.’s Digital Economy Act requires all adult websites to verify the age of U.K. visitors before letting them access adult content.

According to the company, its 18+ age gateways offer an easy, secure AV compliance solution for adult websites, blogs, escort services, cam sites and more. Simple copy-paste code enables anyone with a website needing to comply with the law to do so in minutes and for free, with open source code available for popular web server languages and as a WordPress plugin.

18+ also launched its AV affiliate program, which the company said transforms the U.K. law from a compliance obligation into a potential revenue generator for websites.

While 18+ AV is free for adult sites and consumers, consumers can purchase a subscription to a premium VPN service within the 18+ app for iOS and Android, with affiliates receiving a share of the revenue.

“We believe our 18+ affiliate program transforms the U.K. age verification law [so] adult websites can earn money from their U.K. age verified traffic,” said a company representative. “Users in the U.K. want a private and secure age verification solution. The 18+ app provides that experience.”

“Some users will want more convenience and privacy, and our VPN product will appeal to those premium users,” the representative added. “We believe that websites who bring 18+ users or who generate content to keep those users as subscribers should share in the revenue generated.”
